Founder’s Message

I have the greatest pleasure and honour to welcome you to the website of MountCrest University College (MCU). This website provides the information that you need about this young and top class University College.

Our vision

“To become a world-class teaching and research university, educating for life and addressing the challenges facing contemporary society”

Our mission

“To train and prepare a new generation of graduates in body, mind and spirit, for the transformation of society”

In achieving our vision and mission, therefore, we intend to remain an institution of excellence by providing cutting edge research, relevant teaching and learning and proactive extension activities. Consequently, MountCrest University College will become an institution of first choice for both staff and students.

As a university college, MCU is affiliated to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. MCU is the first private tertiary institution in Ghana to offer Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Post-First Degree (LLB) and Master of Laws (LLM) programmes. It will also be the first tertiary institution to establish a medical school in rural Ghana (Larteh-Akuapem).

Programmes in Business, Social Sciences and Medicine are also being developed to meet the pressing demands of tertiary education in Ghana. MCU has two campuses: one at Ayebuso, Larteh-Akuapem in the Akuapem North District of the Eastern Region, which will accommodate the Medical School and its related disciplines. The other one is the Accra Campus, which is located in the Readwide Building at Kanda. It is set to establish a third campus at Prampram in the Greater Accra Region, in memory of the founder’s mother, Madam Comfort Nartekuor Adjoka Nartey, who hailed from Prampram. MCU is unique because it is an institution for both the young and old and takes seriously issues of diversity and transformation. The structure of its programmes takes account of the diversity of its student body.

Accordingly, it organizes regular morning, evening and weekend programmes for both workers and young students who have met the admission requirements, namely, passed either the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSSCE) or General Certificate of Education (GCE) “Advanced Level” Examination. We also admit mature candidates aged 25 years and above at the time of submitting their application with at least five passes at the GCE “Ordinary Level” Examination. This is to enable family persons with busy work schedules to juggle work, home and family life together.

As a way of internationalizing the institution, we admit international students who have met the admission requirements. For more information on the admission requirements, log on to the link on “Admissions” at this website.

At MCU, we offer high quality education that will prepare graduates to enter a new career or advance in their already chosen careers. We have highly qualified, distinguished and dedicated professors and lecturers who are ready to impart knowledge and in the end produce the next generation of scholars and workforce for both the public and private sectors, both locally and internationally.

Once again, I warmly welcome you to MountCrest University College. It is my belief that the information on this website will encourage you to select MCU as the institution in which you will pursue either your own or your child or ward’s journey of academic excellence and career advancement.

Kwaku Ansa-Asare,
